With Home Insulation, you may save on energy and bills

Are you looking for ways to make your home more efficient? If you’re like most people, you probably don’t think much about insulation. But it plays a crucial role in keeping your house warm in the winter and cool in the summer. It also helps reduce noise from outside and between rooms. And if your home is older, chances are good that it could use some help with insulation. Many homes built before 1980 have less than half of the insulation they need! That means higher energy bills and a harder time staying comfortable year-round—and even higher utility costs when things get cold or hot outside. The good news is that there are lots of easy ways to improve your home’s insulation so that it can be more energy-efficient all year long!

The most frequent misconception about insulation is that it’s only used to make houses look nice or to keep them cool in the summer. While those factors are true, they do not fully encompass the benefits of having a well-insulated property. Your home’s HVAC system is crucial to keeping your family comfortable and healthy. But, many people don’t know the importance of proper insulation. Proper insulation can help maintain the efficiency of your heating and cooling system by reducing energy consumption and extending its lifespan. This blog post will explore why it’s important to have a properly insulated home as well as some tips on how you can get started with insulating your property!

Did you know that you can see 20-40% energy savings particularly from using your HVAC system by updating your insulation every ten years? If you live somewhere that requires almost all year cooling, updating the attic insulation is the biggest way to improve your energy savings. If you live in a cold climate, insulating your walls, piping, and underfoot can significantly reduce the amount of work that your heating system will have to do. Most insulation services offer a free estimate where they calculate how much energy you’d save by updating the insulation. An Insulation professional will be able to tell you how much protection you’re getting with each option you may consider within your budget.  Make sure you have the right insulation in place to protect the investment of your heating and cooling system.

There are many reasons why it’s important to have a properly insulated home, from extending the lifespan of your heating and cooling system to saving money on energy bills!  Proper insulation can offer significant savings when compared against other home improvement projects in terms of return on investment so installing proper insulation is almost always a smart choice for homeowners looking to save money in the long run. Now that we know what insulation can do for us, how do you go about installing it?

The truth is I would not recommend installing insulation by yourself. Insulation is an important step of home improvement but it’s not always the easiest or the safest. There are some things you just don’t want to DIY, and insulation might be one of them. Installing pipe insulation, for example, might be hazardous if you’re working near electrical cables. While asbestos contamination is no longer a concern with today’s insulation materials, working in an older home can expose you to asbestos from old insulation. It’s best to stay safe and leave it to a professional insulation service. For those determined DIY homeowners, please consult an insulation professional and have them inspect your home before starting any project to do with insulation.

Today more than ever there are so many options for purchasing proper insulation at your local hardware store or on Amazon with free shipping! I would recommend having a professional come out and inspect your insulation every few years to make sure you’re getting the most out of it.

You should consider insulating any place where pipes run through unheated spaces such as attics or basements because this will prevent heat loss from these areas during colder months. By sealing cracks and gaps, moisture will be prevented from condensing. This will eliminate mold problems in the long run. Insulation can also help keep out unwanted sounds from inside and outside of your house by blocking sound waves from entering or exiting certain areas around windows, doors, floors, walls etc… This will allow for a quieter environment which will lead to better sleep quality at night since there won’t be excess noise disrupting restful slumber! There are several types of insulation available on today’s market including fiberglass batts (rolls), loose-fill cellulose (bagged), and rigid foam insulation. My personal favorite is blown-in cellulose insulation because of its affordability, ease of installation, and R-value which means it will provide more protection for your home.

With insulation advancing over the years, I currently recommend blown-in cellulose as my first choice. It is made from recycled paper and has a higher R-value than fiberglass, which means it’s going to provide more protection for your home. It also provides an additional benefit of being environmentally responsible when considering the amount of waste that goes into landfills every year due to insulation materials. The best part about cellulose is that it doesn’t lose its R value over time.

I don’t recommend installing insulation by yourself, there are better options out there such as hiring an Insulation professional to do it for you! I would start with finding a company that offers free estimates and does not try to sell their service on the spot, but rather provides valuable information so you can make your own, informed decision.
