How To Ensure Your Place Is Comfy No Matter How Hot It Gets Outside

When summer comes along, we’re soon reminded of all the pros and cons of the relentless summer heat, and this is why it’s always a good idea to prepare beforehand. With every passing year, the summers are only getting hotter and hotter, and this is why it’s so important that we keep indoors as comfortable as possible so that we have a pleasant refuge to pass the time on the long summer days and nights. We’re going to tell you all about how you can ensure that your place is always comfortable, no matter how hot it gets outside in the summer.

Use Breathable Fabrics

We try to keep every inch of the house as warm as possible during the winter, but now that summer is inching closer, it’s time to think about what you can do to make it more practical for hot weather. Think about using more breathable fabrics around the house, such as with your bedding, and even the cushion covers and the sofa’s as well. Lastly, you need to make sure that you wear breathable clothes as well.

AC Maintenance

Nothing could be more devastating on a scorching summer’s day than the AC breaking down for whatever reason. This is why it’s so important that you get a professional in to do a maintenance check on your AC unit. Arizona locals, for instance, know that when the summer is getting near, it’s time to call up their go-to pros to come over and give their AC’s a good look. Even people who use the larger units need the services for commercial ac repairs, as these units have a different setup altogether. Either way, it’s crucial that you have the filter cleaned and may be changed if it’s gotten too old, and don’t forget to have them take care of the outdoor unit as well.

Check the Doors & Windows

One thing that we often overlook is any opening that can be pretty hard to miss unless you really look. These openings let the heat into the house and make it really hard to keep it cool. Not only will it stay super hot indoors, but your energy bill will skyrocket because appliances such as your fridge and AC will be working on overdrive to maintain a certain temperature. Make sure that all the windows and doors are sealed properly to avoid this and keep the cool air in.

Don’t Cook During the Day

We’re not saying avoid eating! But it’s a good idea to get your cooking done in the evenings, especially if you’re using the oven or even the stove. This contributes to the hot air in the house and makes it a lot more difficult to bear if you’re cooking during the day. Besides, summer nights are all about being outdoors and having barbeques, to make it a point to do that often as well. This way, you’ll be keeping all the heat outside and enjoying amazing grilled food as well.

Use Your Ceiling Fans

Many people have given up on fans, believing that they’re just not effective enough for the summer, but that’s simply not true. You need to invest in ceiling fans and make sure that they’re set to spin in a counterclockwise rotation so that all the cool air is pushed down at you. This way, you’ll be enjoying fresh air inside the house and not having the AC on 24/7. The AC will work up a bill and it’s simply just not good for your skin to have it on all the time. You should also think about having standing fans. There are many that are chargeable and are a dream to use when there are power cuts.

Shades & Lighting

It goes without saying that during the day, you want to make sure that you keep the sun out. At the same time, you do want to utilize natural light. So get sheer curtains, as they allow the light to come in but without the glare. Also, look into getting blinds to give you the option to shut the sun out entirely when it gets too much for you. In the evenings, be aware of the kind of bulbs you use- don’t use incandescent lights as they emit a lot of heat.

If you follow the tips provided here, you’re guaranteed a stress-free summer that allows you to escape the crazy heat in the comfort of your home. Make sure that you take the time to get everything checked and planned well in advance so that you’re sitting pretty the moment the heat comes in.
