How to choose the right bed for you

It is a place where you will spend one-third of your life. Even more, if we count all the movie watching, snack eating, daydreaming, and book reading. Not to mention that it’s our favorite place we hate to leave in the morning. Your bed deserves to be the crown of your home. The favorite spot where we want to feel comfortable, warm, and snuggly. So the battle begins. How to choose the most perfect bed there is? Decisions, decisions, decisions.

Ask yourself what you are looking for in a bed. Does it need to be big or small? Long or standard? Upholstered or wood? Does it need to fit a family of five (when the little ones can’t sleep at night)? Or just one very comfortable person who likes to stretch? Are we a king or a queen person? Do we like our beds to be a little hard, or an extra fluffy?  The topic about  upholstered bed vs wood bed always brings an interesting trait wars of opinion. Hence, answers to these questions will lead your way to  perfect bed shopping, here’s what we have:

WOODEN BEDS

We have all had dreams or seen movies of a massive, wooden, four-poster bed with a nest of fluffy white pillows where we want to sink each night. Mind you there is nothing wrong with wooden beds. They are long-lasting, strong, and durable. You can spend each morning waking up with a mild scent of ash, oak, or cedar. Just like waking up in the middle of a forest. The air can flow freely between the wooden slats which will keep your mattress clean and hygienic. They are easy to clean. Just dust them off with a damp cloth and move on with your day.

But, and there is always a but,  they can be a little hard on the back. They are just not meant for sitting up and reading a book or watching your favorite movie. You can always try to put some extra pillows and they will work for a while. But as soon as you change your position you will need to adjust them each time and that can be more pain than you want to have.

UPHOLSTERED BEDS

If you want your home to feel fancy with many colors. If you want to have a bright red, heavenly blue, or just positively yellow in your bedroom then you are looking for an upholstered one. There is a large selection of colors so great maybe they can make one special just for you. Not to mention that materials are soft and you can spend hours and hours sitting in bed and thinking you’re sitting on a cloud. They can fit any design you choose for the rest of your home. Make them shiny or silky. They will adapt to any size and shape you need them to be. Choosing an upholstered bed is choosing comfort and luxury. Maybe they will not last you a lifetime as a wooden one will. They are great if you like changing the design and refreshing things a little bit. Because guess what, you can always change the color or the material as the mood hits you.

The only thing that could distract you from choosing this bed is the cleaning. Materials need to be maintained and cleaned regularly if you want to have a quality bed. For some, they enjoy doing it themself. Just some vacuuming or brushing every week and it’s done. For others, there are plenty of companies who will do it for you for a price. And if you want it to always look in top shape you will have to invest your time and money to make it so.

Whether you choose a wooden bed with hundreds of pillows, or a bright orange upholstered one depends entirely on you. Some people like to have plenty of choices of color, design and materials which is perfectly fine. They will spend much time searching for a particular design or creating their own. Others like to have the classic wooden bed which can last a lifetime. Even in that case you will have plenty of choices of types of wood, models and frames which you can implement to have the one you are looking for.

You can also mix and match. Nothing wrong with choosing a wooden bed in your favorite design and having an upholstered headboard. In that way you can have the best of both worlds. Quality and durability of wood, and fun, colorful softness of a rich fabric. You just need to have a good maintenance and cleaning plan, and you are all set. Your enjoyment should be a priority. Sometimes it is good to step out of the box and make a change. Be different. Make a new trend, and we are sure others will follow.

No matter which one you choose in  the end, you will have to make it yourself. Recently it was discovered that people who make their own beds each morning are considered adventurous, sociable and confident. As opposed to non-bed makers who are more shy, curious and sarcastic. We come in all sorts and sizes just as the beds are all we can say.

Final Say

Beds are an important part of any home. They are a place of comfort and refuge. They provide rest when we are tired and sick. They make us feel protected and warm. Is there a better feeling than laying in bed and listening to the storm outside? Take your time to choose a perfect spot which you will call your own. There are so many fun choices to make. So many beautiful memories to create. The process may be a little long, until you get what you want. But it will be worth it. Choosing a bed can be a personal experience, if you live alone. Or you can bring an entire family along, if the little ones have the habit to visit you in the middle of the night. There are so many good and quality designs you can find. Hundreds of companies are dedicated in providing high quality beds either wooden or upholstered. The choice is yours.
