Method of Drilling into Concrete Wall
Step 1: Preparing the Drill
First, you have to get a hammer drill that can work on the concrete wall for you. In terms of going for the small holes, you can use the regular drills. But for the tougher works, always rely on the hammer drills or rotary hammer.
Then, check the manual and instruction book of the drill to know about it properly. You have to place the right drill bit in this situation. Make sure the drill bit you use should be a high-grade quality masonry drill bit.
Go through all the top drill bits for drilling and then choose one from them. It is a good idea to pick up the carbide-tipped masonry bits for this work. Check the length of the bit flutes.
Make sure they are long enough for the holes you are planning to drill. After this, you have to check the right depth for your holes.
There will surely be a depth control bar or depth setting. Have a look at that. For hanging light objects, 1 inch is enough but for heavy-duty projects, you might need longer screws.
Step 2: Holding the Drill
In this situation, you are already prepared with your drill. You can start your drilling process if you are experienced enough in this field. However, if you are a newbie, you have to learn how to hold the drill properly to get the right holes on the concrete walls.

If you are knowledgeable, you might say these holes pilot holes. Keep your drill on the dots and drill a bit keeping the speed low. Make sure the first holes you make are shallow.
Step 4: Powering the Drill
Once you are done with making pilot holes on the concrete wall, your holes are ready to be drilled like a pro!
Some drills include hammer function and if you have one, go for it. Hold the drill at a perpendicular angle to the wall surface keeping the drill head on the pilot hole.
Start drilling but do not provide force, be firm. Slowly, increase the speed of the drill and provide a bit of force. Your grip on the drill handle should be firm.
Step 5: Taking the Drill out
When you will drill continuously, there will be concrete dust. You must get them out. For this, all you have to do is pull the machine out after using it for a period.
Give the wall 15-20 seconds and the dust will fall. Now, you can put the drill inside again for drilling.
Taking out the drill periodically and giving it a break by switching off is necessary for keeping the machine’s motor work better.
Step 6: Using Masonry Nail
Even if you are a seasoned drill user, your holes might not be always perfect. You have to break through obstructions when the drilling is not perfect.
If it doesn’t go as expected, you have to insert a masonry nail inside the hole. Then you have to hammer it for breaking the concrete. Now, you can insert the drill bit again for drilling.
Step 7: Blowing the Dust
Removing the dust from the concrete holes will help you strengthen the concrete anchors. You have to squeeze a can or bulb of compressed air so that you can take out dust from the concrete hole. After this, vacuum it properly. Now, you are done with the perfect holes!
