Bathroom Hardware – How to Find a Stylish Combination

It’s that time of the year when you are getting the itch to renovate your bathroom. You want a new look, and sometimes, that may easily be achieved by mixing and matching the hardware. But how can you get that stylish combination? How can you make sure the bathroom looks fabulous, only by changing the hardware? Here are some tricks from Cabinet Set that you might want to keep in mind.

Match Things With The Other Rooms

You may think now, “Why would I care about other rooms? My bathroom looks fabulous, so why should I care?” Well, there’s this matter of continuity. When you have the same type of hardware in the hallway or the kitchen, for example, it will create a sense of continuity.

Let’s say that you have golden light fixtures in your hallway. You could use the same kind of finish for your bathroom. This way, you will be able to connect the rooms in the way that there is no harsh transition. This will give off a particular sense of style.

Mix The Right Colors

One stylish way to mix and match your hardware is to play with the colors. Gold has always been a color to inspire style – and by mixing it with a shade such as black, you are bringing the “stylish” to a completely new level. You will receive a great complimenting contrast. If these are not your colors, you may choose any, as long as they are complementing each other.

You may mix and match these colors in whichever way you want, as long as there is some sort of continuity. One good combination would be matte black door hardware, faucet, and lightings, together with gold cabinet pulls and a gold mirror. Regardless of the color pattern that you choose for your bathroom, this mix should look very stylish.

Don’t Mix Too Many Metals

When looking for a stylish combination for your bathroom hardware, many people tend to go overboard by mixing too many metals. The general belief is that as long as they maintain the same finish, they should be able to mix however many metals they want.

However, think about finding the perfect hardware as choosing the ideal color combination for your bedroom. The tones and models should not compete; they should complement. For a room to feel stylish, you need to somehow balance the combo and not go overboard with the mixing.

Set the Hardware Accordingly

Let’s say that you have found the perfect set of cabinet hardware. Now, you just have to choose the types. Depending on the cabinets that you have in your bathroom, you might want to break out a mix of knobs and pulls. For the bathroom to look as stylish a possible, the knobs should go on the regular door whereas the pulls should go on drawers.

Many people choose to go with just one model for everything, to obtain some kind of symmetry. However, the only thing that this will do is make your bathroom look bland. As mentioned, style requires complimenting – and there won’t be such a thing if everything looks the same.

Follow a Pattern

Sometimes, perhaps the best way of finding the perfect stylish combination for your bathroom hardware is to follow a pattern. For example, if you plan on painting the cabinets a certain color (say, white), you can use hardware that has consistent finish and style (for example, antique gold hardware).

You want your bathroom to look stylish, not like you just chaotically splashed different types of hardware there – so, make sure that you are consistent. Ideally, if you want to get a vintage kind of feel for your kitchen, don’t try to mix modern touches into it as well. It might not look that good in the end.

Final Thoughts

Everyone has a different notion of stylish, and what looks stylish for you might not look as stylish for another person. However, there is a general sense of good taste – and nowadays, coordination is your friend. No matter if you wish to go new school or old school, light or dark, make sure that the patterns you are choosing are complimenting each other.
