In the nineties there used to be only one design wallpaper that you could see on all desktop screens. It was scenery with lush green mountains and clear blue sky.
It was nice but not everyone’s choice hence started the development of multiple wallpapers. Each targeted a different person and had a unique design. At first you had to buy the wallpaper and not everyone could afford that. Hence having a different background was a ‘flex’.
However things changed when Google images came along. People uploaded their bought wallpapers and everyone could then access them for free. Now everyone can download the screen saver they like and set it as their background.
Then came different screen resolution, specifically HD screens. If you want a background picture for a laptop that does not look distorted then you will need an HD wallpaper. You can get them for free in some places but in others you have to buy them.
