6 Cheap Ways To Beat The Cold In Winter

You know how they say – “Winter Is Coming”..(quote from Game Of Thrones). And we all know what that means.

Sure, you can just crank up the thermostat and make your house the warmest place on the block, but you will be surprised when you will open your next heating bill.

So there are other ways to be warm at your house and you don’t have to spend monthly the same amount you spend on Black Friday deals.

Seal Any Leaks

One of the pains in life is a house with no proper heating system, a draughty house is always uncomfortable as you’re cold all the time. This happens because of old and obsolete doors and windows through which cold air creeps in. The dreaded cold also finds ways to seep in through the various electric sockets in your house and makes the entire place a living hell.

The only way to get rid of this daunting issue is to install new windows or get the old ones properly sealed.

Doing so will make your house warmer while being an economical fix. Meaning, you don’t have to worry about rising heat bills.

Another simple fix is to seal all the cold air and water out through the use of caulking. Find out the different entryways and cracks through which cold air is creeping in and seal those cracks shut.

Check Your Heater “Health”

You know how it is for an old car or even any car that has been standing in the garage for a long time and no one has used it? Getting it to work can take a challenge. Dust in small places, maybe some dead mice or something in the heater within the car. Anything can happen.

So the same thing is for your home heaters. Before the cold season, check them or call a professional to inspect them if everything is at the TOP level with them. Because if something will be wrong, it will take more energy for your heater to work, so that means more money spent on heating.

Just schedule a maintenance check-up or inspection on or heating system.

Get Warm Blankets

In warm weather, you don’t think of using blankets when you sit at the TV in the evening and things like that. But when the cold comes people tend to look for something that makes them warm.

And the best thing that can make your arm is a good blanket. Take that blanked, sit down on the couch, and wrap yourself in it.

There are so many different types of blankets that you can get. And don’t say – “I dont like blankets” there is somewhere something that you will like. Heck, even if you don’t, you can have your own design. Get a custom photo blanket from CanvasDiscount. Just take your favorite photo and make your own design.

Make Warm Food and Drinks

You can also warm yourself up by not only sitting under a blanket or heating up your house. But by using something warm like eating soup and drinking a tea.

Even in the morning – drink hot coffee or tea. And if you don’t have time to sit and drink at home in the mornings before work, buy a thermos. Take the tea or coffee with you. It will stay warm for at least half a day.

So when you feel cold again, drink the tea that you took with you from home.

Don’t Use Alcohol

A lot of people think that using alcohol makes them warm. But that’s not true. Yes, you feel warmth, but that’s not because you are getting some heat on your body.

You feel warm because your blood vessels in the skin expand. But that does the opposite thing – it draws the heat away from your body. It doesn’t stay in you.

So next time you think you should have some vodka to stay warm, think twice.

Stay Active

By doing exercises you increase your body temperature thanks to your body’s metabolic response. That’s why when you work out in the summer, you have to be careful because your body can overheat.

Do some workouts. It can be anything, just go online, type on Google “online workouts at home” and there you go.

If you are not a workout person then do some cleaning around your house. Not only you will have done your chores but you will warm your body by moving around all the time.

I know, not that you are thinking – yeah, this is right, because when I clean I feel hot. YES! Exactly!
